A few quotes on which to muse from a Liverpool Bishop.

"Believe me, you cannot stand still in your souls. Habits of good or evil are daily strengthening in your hearts. Every day you are either getting nearer to God, or further off. Every year that you continue unrepentant, the wall of division between you and heaven becomes higher and thicker, and the gulf to be crossed deeper and broader. Oh, dread the hardening effect of constant lingering in sin! "

From J. C. Ryle's "Thoughts for young men".

Who is like You, O Lord?

There's a short answer to these questions: no one!
There is only One who is glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders.
Do you know Him as your God?
This is the way Moses knew Him as he had seen many amazing instances of the Lord's provision and deliverances out of some very difficult circumstances.
Can you look back on the years of your life and see how He has led and guided?
What a privilege!

"Blessed be the Lord God, the God of Israel, Who only does wondrous things! And blessed be His glorious name forever! And let the whole earth be filled with His glory. Amen and Amen."
Psalm 72:18-19

Quotes from David Brainerd, some of which are very challenging

"Lord, let me make a difference for you that is utterly disproportionate to who I am." ~ David Brainerd

"As long as I see anything to be done for God, life is worth having; but O how vain and unworthy it is to live for any lower end!" ~ David Brainerd

"No amount of scholastic attainment, of able and profound exposition of brilliant and stirring eloquence can atone for the absence of a deep impassioned sympathetic love for human souls." ~ David Brainerd

"Oh, that I could spend every moment of my life to God's glory!" ~ David Brainerd

An e-Sword word study!

E-Sword is a wonderful thing! After hearing some teaching on Holiness (i.e.: it is the basic law of the Temple, and God's people), I decided to do a word study and  it found 43 verses: (listed below).
The dictionary defines holiness as: "The state of being holy". It really means being separate and set apart.
It is so important that we live pure and holy lives that are well-pleasing to God. See the last verse (Hebrews 12:14) for proof of that! The only way we can live like that is by allowing the Holy Spirit to be in control of our lives. (Romans 3:23 says we've all sinned and come short of the glory of God). It's a blessed thing to remember that the Lord will keep us as His own treasured possession when we are completely surrendered to Him. We mustn't allow compromise to tempt us away to the ways of the world. We must keep our eyes fixed on Him in His Beauty and Glory!  It's all quite fascinating isn't it!

Who is like unto thee, O LORD, among the gods? who is like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?
