God's Storehouses, Today's excerpt from In Green Pastures

"Each step in the life of faith is toward richer blessing. Are you God's child? There is nothing before you in the unopened future but goodness. Every new experience, whether of joy or sorrow, will be a new storehouse of goodness for you. Even in the heart of disaster you will still find goodness infolded. Even your disappointments will disclose truer, richer blessing than if your own hopes had been realized. Here is a lens through which every true Christian may see his own path clear to the end - from goodness to richer goodness, from glory to glory, the last step through the opening door of heaven into the presence of the King."

Scripture verse, quote, and a few questions.

Habakkuk 2:1 says,
"I will stand my watch
And set myself on the rampart,
And watch to see what He will say to me,
And what I will answer when I am corrected."

And here's what Mr Wesley had to say about that verse:
"Called to give an account of the mysteriousness of providence; either to satisfy doubters, or to silence quarrellers."

Can we say, like Samuel, "Speak Lord, for your servant is listening."?
Do we really know the Shepherd's voice or have other voices crowded Him out?
In so many places in Scripture, we're told to "Be still" and "Stand firm".
Do we ever take much time aside to be alone with the Lord for Him to correct our skewed way of thinking?
Have we given many accurate accounts of the Lord's dealings lately?
Have we satisfied doubters or silenced quarrellers?

The Fool

I just finished watching the Living Waters movie "The Fool".
Just over an hour. Well worth watching.
https://youtu.be/hlCc_TA7gw8

I found it really encouraging.
Important message. Check it out.

"For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For it is written:
“I will destroy the wisdom of the wise,
And bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.”"
1 Corinthians 1:18-19

Aren't you glad that God is so faithful? Excerpt from Traveling toward sunrise

"For I AM the LORD, I change not." Malachi 3:6

..."let this be our ceaseless joy: that God is ever with us. Always the same Gospel. He, who year in, year out, sends the shower and the sunbeam, dresses highway and byway with beauty... will not forget the least of us.
His goodness is ever new; His kindness always outpoured, His tenderness greater than our uttermost demand, and the same springtime over and over is sent by the same dear Lord and Father."

It was these three phrases that caught my attention: "His goodness is ever new, His kindness always outpoured, His tenderness greater than our uttermost demand."

Will you join me in praising Abba Father today for His amazing mercy and faithfulness to His children?
None of us deserve any of it.

His love and grace are truly wonderful.

This song has been on my mind today.
I heard it years ago.
I love being reminded of songs
I'd temporarily forgotten.

God's Will

Thy Will be done
From In Green Pastures
by JR Miller D. D.

God's will for us leads us on earth to the noblest, truest, most Christ-like character, and then beyond this world to glory and eternal life. For you, whatever your experiences, however hard and painful life may seem to you, God's will is the very hand of divine love to lead you on toward all that is good and beautiful and blessed. Never doubt it, even in the darkest hour, or when the pain is sorest, or when the cross is heaviest. God's will holds you ever close to God, and leads you ever toward and into God's sweetest rest. It brings peace to the heart - a peace that never can come in any way of our own choosing - to be able always to say, "Thy will be done."

Heard this song for the first time this evening, and I love it.

If you click this link
 https://youtu.be/936BapRFHaQ

you will be able to listen to the song, "He will hold me fast."

I think it's so wonderful to remember He holds us fast and we're safe in His keeping.

3 verses that jumped out at me from this morning's reading.

Aren't you glad that the earth is full of His mercy?
and that His words give light (and life!)
and that His righteousness is everlasting!

Who knows which Psalm these are from?
(No prizes, just curious.)

Separate always? "Nobody" Susan Warner quote

Yes, it is time for another little quote by Susan Warner from her book, "Nobody".
A girl and her grandmother are discussing being separate from the world and I love the response here.

"How can one be separate always, Grandma, in the midst of other people?"

"Take care that you keep nearest God. Walk with Him; and you'll be pretty sure
to be separate from the most o' folks."

It's very simple, direct and to the point, and exactly what we need to do.
How do we take care to keep nearest God?
Spending time in prayer and reading the Bible would seem to be the obvious ones.

#Jesus matters!

I attended a funeral today where the minister made a statement similar to the above, and it's been on my mind ever since. The world tells us everything matters; polar bears, global warming, pollution etc.,
But this is a refreshing challenge to have our priorities right.
It really is the most important decision you'll ever have to make.
