Verily...

You might ask yourself, "Can it really be so simple?" According to this verse, yes, it can.
Have you heard His Word? And put your trust in Jesus alone?
Here we have another beautiful promise of Jesus that He saves those who trust Him.
I repeatedly come back to this verse.
I'm so glad God included it!
So often I fail to live and think as a Christian ought to live and think, but my salvation is not based on my performance!
I'm very glad about that!
My perfecly sinless Saviour was willing to suffer agony on the cross to bring us sinners back to Himself.
He loved us so much that He endured torture to restore us to a right standing relationship.
He paid my debt.
I owe Him my life!

Every good gift

Yet again, this verse reminds me of the Lord's great faithfulness.
What a blessed reassurance that our God never varies in the slightest.
He always gives good, perfect gifts, and He is light, in Whom is no darkness at all.
We can and should trust Him completely, and we should never stop thanking Him for His marvellous loving-kindness to us.
What a privilege to be called His own dear children!

Continuing on the Christian perfection theme...

Reading through the book of Hebrews the words perfect and perfection are mentioned a lot of times. (no I didn't count!). I used the cheat's version. E-Sword is very useful!
The word "perfect" occurs 99 times in Scripture. I guess we should take note of it, but it's funny how it hasn't really "jumped out" at me before reading Mr Wesley's book!

"But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you. To Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen."
1 Peter 5:10 NKJV

"Therefore, leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ, let us go on to perfection," Hebrews 6:1
