I was looking through Grandad's poems yesterday and wanted to share these 2 excerpts. Thank You Heavenly Father for a goodly heritage.

Strong Word of Challenge from A W Tozer

Image
Written in the 20th century, but for today....??? Aiden Wilson Tozer 1897 - 1963 "This frightening hour calls aloud for men with the gift of prophetic insight. Instead we have men who conduct surveys, polls and panel discussions. We need men with the gift of knowledge. In their place we have men with scholarship---nothing more. If the church in the second half of this century is to recover from the injuries she suffered in the first half, there must appear a new type of preacher. The proper, ruler-of-the-synagogue type will never do. Neither will the priestly type of man who carries out his duties, takes his pay and asks no questions, nor the smooth-talking pastoral type who knows how to make the Christian religion acceptable to everyone. All these have been tried and found wanting. Another kind of religious leader must arise among us. Personalized truths from yesterday's sermon

I need to remember these truths: I need to follow Christ and obey the Father. I should be living to glorify Him, no matter what it costs me! His sheep follow Him because they know His voice. I should be willing to be mocked and ridiculed, because, if I'm living like Jesus, I won't fit in with the world. I can and should trust God fully because He is faithful! I need to respond when God speaks to me. Yes, the narrow way is difficult, but it leads to Life.

Good reminders from yesterday's message.

I will not give you my hand at all, and I will not walk with you, for your way is the way of eternal death, and your words are all untrue.” “Nay, walk with me but a little space,” said the World with a kindly air. “The road I walk is a pleasant road, and the sun shines always there. Your way is narrow and thorny and rough, while mine is flowery and smooth. Your lot is sad with reproach and toil, but in circles of joy I move. The way, you can see, is a broad, fair one; my gate is high and wide; There is room enough for you and me to travel side by side.” Half shyly the Church approached the World, and gave him her hand of s...
