Charles Wesley birthday poem/hymn

I suppose one might almost expect it of Charles Wesley; apparently he wrote a few poems or hymns on the occasions of his birthday (one for his wife's birthday too!)  1 Away with our fears, The glad morning appears, When an heir of salvation was born! From Jehovah I came, For his glory I am, And to him I with singing return. 2 Thee, Jesus, alone, The fountain I own Of my life and felicity here: And cheerfully sing My Redeemer and King, Till his signs in the heav'ns appear. 3 With thanks I rejoice In thy fatherly choice Of my state and condition below; If of parents I came Who honour'd thy name, 'Twas thy wisdom appointed it so. 4 I sing of thy grace, From my earliest days, Ever near to allure and defend; Hitherto thou hast been My preserver from sin, And I trust thou wilt save to the end. 5 O the infinite cares And temptations and snares Thy hand hath conducted me through! O the blessings bestow'd By a bountiful God, And the mercies eternally new! 6 What a mercy is ...

Bow the knee

"There are moments on our journey following the Lord Where God illumines ev’ry step we take. There are times when circumstances make perfect sense to us, As we try to understand each move He makes. When the path grows dim and our questions have no answers, turn to Him. Bow the knee; Trust the heart of your Father when the answer goes beyond what you can see. Bow the knee; Lift your eyes toward heaven and believe the One who holds eternity. And when you don’t understand the purpose of His plan, In the presence of the King, bow the knee. There are days when clouds surround us, and the rain begins to fall, The cold and lonely winds won’t cease to blow. And there seems to be no reason for the suffering we feel; We are tempted to believe God does not know. When the storms arise, don’t forget we live by faith and not by sight. Bow the knee; Trust the heart of your Father when the answer goes beyond what you can see. Bow the knee; Lift your eyes toward heaven and believe the One who hold...

God's Storehouses, Today's excerpt from In Green Pastures

"Each step in the life of faith is toward richer blessing. Are you God's child? There is nothing before you in the unopened future but goodness. Every new experience, whether of joy or sorrow, will be a new storehouse of goodness for you. Even in the heart of disaster you will still find goodness infolded. Even your disappointments will disclose truer, richer blessing than if your own hopes had been realized. Here is a lens through which every true Christian may see his own path clear to the end - from goodness to richer goodness, from glory to glory, the last step through the opening door of heaven into the presence of the King."

Another song I love

Image
Time to share this one with you. I have fond memories of this song. :)

Far above all.

So, I've looked online and I can't find it anywhere. On Saturday I attended a meeting and we opened with this hymn, and the more I listened, the more I liked it. Now, the chorus is going round in my head, and I think that they're pretty good words to have going round in my head. (P.S. The tune is the same as "Sing we the King who is coming to reign") "Jesus, when made in the likeness of men, Humbled Himself to the death of the Cross; No reputation belonged to Him then; Emptying Himself, He esteemed it no loss.  Chorus:  Far above all! Far above all! God hath exalted Him far above all!  Crown Him as Lord, at His feet humbly fall,  Jesus, Christ Jesus, is far above all! Name that through ages to come shall out-ring: Jesus, the Lamb, who for sinners was slain! Soon to this earth He is coming as King, Coming in power and in glory to reign. Kingdoms of earth shall be yielded to God; Glorious the reign, with our Lord on the throne! Chained th...

Yes, it's another quote from "the Old Helmet"

"The effect of our following Christ in this way will be, that we shall bear testimony to the world that He is our King, and what sort of a King He is. We shall proclaim that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father. We shall have the invisible army of angels for our fellow-servants and co-workers; and we shall be passing on with the whole redeemed world to the day of full triumph and final restoration; when Christ will come to be glorified in His saints and to be admired in them that believe- because our testimony among you was believed. But now our business is to give the testimony."

A poem

"Not a sound invades the stillness, Not a form invades the scene, Save the voice of my Beloved And the person of my King. Precious, gentle, holy Jesus, Blessed Bridegroom of my heart, In Thy secret inner chamber Thou wilt whisper what Thou art. And within those heavenly places, Calmly hushed in sweet repose, There I drink with joy absorbing All the love Thou wouldst disclose. Wrapt in deep adoring silence, Jesus, Lord, I dare not move, Lest I lose the smallest saying Meant to catch the ear of love. Rest then, oh my soul, contented, Thou hast reached that happy place In the bosom of thy Saviour, Gazing up in His dear face." found in a Smith Wigglesworth book, "Power to serve"
