Verse a Day and Prayers and Promises

Verse a Day Aug 1 But whatever things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. Philippians 3:7 2 In God have I put my trust: I will not be afraid what man can do unto me. Psalm 56:11     But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things. 1 John 2:20 3 …I also count all things to be loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them filth, so that I may win Christ; Philippians 3:8 4 and be found in Him; not having my own righteousness, which is of the Law, but through the faith of Christ, the righteousness of God by faith, Philippians 3:9 5 Return unto thy rest, O my soul; for the LORD hath dealt bountifully with thee. I am waiting for the dawning of the bright and blessed day

Here's a great old hymn we sang at Church this evening. I didn't know it very well if at all, but it's a really good one!!  I am waiting for the dawning Of the bright and blessèd day, When the darksome night of sorrow Shall have vanished far away— When for ever with the Saviour, Far beyond this vale of tears, I shall swell the song of worship Through the everlasting years. I am looking at the brightness— See, it shineth from afar— Of the clear and joyous beaming Of the  Bright and Morning Star. Through the dark gray mist of morning Do I see its glorious light; Then away with every shadow Of this sad and weary night. I am waiting for the coming Of the Lord who died for me; Oh, His words have thrilled my spirit, I will come again for thee. I can almost hear His footfall, On the threshold of the door, And my heart, my heart is longing, To be with Him evermore. by Samuel Trevor Francis Enjoy!!

John Mackay the Creation Guy

Here's a quick preview of a teaching session by John Mackay.  Here's a snippet of the time Richard Dawkins interviewed John Mackay. If you want any info/ answered questions on anything regarding Creation, check out John Mackay, the Creation Guy. I've mentioned the home Creation Research website before and there is a wealth of fascinating information and 3d web museum etc. Definitely worth a good look round. Keep up to date with all the latest news about Dawkins, new fossil finds, polystrate trees,  etc. http://www.creationresearch.net/ http://www.facebook.com/askjohnmackay http://askjohnmackay.com/  (Q&A site.)

Another poem.

A poem I found in Traveling toward Sunrise: She had a doubt, and buried it before the day was old; She did not tell it to a friend - what if his love grew cold? She buried it and turned to Christ.  "Lord, Thou hast died for me- Increase my faith, my feeble faith, and bid me cling to Thee!" I thought it was a good one to remember, especially, the reminder to turn to Christ in every situation. If you cling to Him, He holds you securely.

The Thorn by Martha Snell Nicholson

I heard this poem last night and it is very moving!  The Thorn "I stood a mendicant of God before His royal throne And begged him for one priceless gift, which I could call my own. I took the gift from out His hand, but as I would depart I cried, “But Lord this is a thorn and it has pierced my heart. This is a strange, a hurtful gift, which Thou hast given me.” He said, “My child, I give good gifts and gave My best to thee.” I took it home and though at first the cruel thorn hurt sore, As long years passed I learned at last to love it more and more. I learned He never gives a thorn without this added grace, He takes the thorn to pin aside the veil which hides His face." by Martha Snell Nicholson I have been challenged by this.  Are you?

An e-Sword word study!

Image
E-Sword is a wonderful thing!  After hearing some teaching on Holiness (i.e.: it is the basic law of the Temple, and God's people), I decided to do a word study and  it found 43 verses: (listed below).  The dictionary defines holiness as: "The state of being holy".  It really means being separate and set apart.  It is so important that we live pure and holy lives that are well-pleasing to God. See the last verse (Hebrews 12:14) for proof of that! The only way we can live like that is by allowing the Holy Spirit to be in control of our lives. (Romans 3:23 says we've all sinned and come short of the glory of God). It's a blessed thing to remember that the Lord will keep us as His own treasured possession when we are completely surrendered to Him. We mustn't allow compromise to tempt us away to the ways of the world. We must keep our eyes fixed on Him in His Beauty and Glory!    It's all quite fascinating isn't it!  Who is like unto thee, O LORD,...

Isaiah 26:4

Here's an interesting "God-incidence". On 5 July, the "Verse a Day" was Trust ye in the Lord forever: for in the Lord Jehovah is everlasting strength. Isaiah 26:4 and it also cropped up in at least 2 other places on the same day, on Twitter, and in Spurgeon's "Evening by Evening". I guess God really wanted me to sit up and take notice when He said something 3 times in one day! I'm still trying to work out exactly why I needed to be reminded of this 3 times. Can you think of any times in your life where God has spoken  the same thing  so often? He often seems to repeat things many times for me (I obviously don't take it in easily the first time!) It's so good to remember He is so Faithful and enduringly strong.

Robert Murray M'Cheyne

Here are a few great quotes from Robert Murray M'Cheyne: I hope you're as blessed by them as I was!! "Live near to God, and all things will appear little to you in comparison with eternal realities." "Unfathomable oceans of grace are in Christ for you. Dive and dive again, you will never come to the bottom of these depths. How many millions of dazzling pearls and gems are at this moment hid in the deep recesses of the ocean caves." "Our soul should be a mirror of Christ; we should reflect every feature: for every grace in Christ there should be a counterpart in us."  "You will be incomplete Christians if you do not look for the coming again of the Lord Jesus"   "One gem from that ocean is worth all the pebbles from earthly streams."    [speaking of the Scriptures] "Set NOT your hearts on the flowers of this world. They shall fade and die. Prize the Rose of Sharon and the Lily of the Valley. He c...

Excerpt from Traveling toward sunrise June 29th.

Ere thou sleepest, gently lay Every troubled thought away; Put away worry and distress As thou puttest off thy dress. Drop thy burden and thy care In the quiet arms of prayer. Lord, thou knowest how I live; All I've done amiss forgive, All the good I've tried to do Strengthen, bless and carry through, All I love in safety keep While in Thee I fall asleep. I thought this was another really nice poem to share with you all. Enjoy!
